A Conversation with the River Ritec

Image
Flowing swiftly through the Ritec Valley, from St Florence and out to the sea at Tenby, This beautiful little river flows through the heart of the village, and over these past few weeks has been the cause of contnued flooding in Tenby, causing several roads to be impassable. Perhaps not suprising, because long ago, this whole area, was once a navigable waterway, with the sea streching inland and ships able to sail right up the Mill in St Florence. But since land reclamation and the construction of the Railway Embankmant in the 1800's, the sea and the river have been seperated and controlled. So now the river is channelled directly into the sea. Whereas once, they would have been one dance, one movement. Like breath in, and out. I had felt drawn to to come and meet this River ths past week. I know it, but not on any intimate level. So I was curious to see what may arise. I came with an openness both in heart and mind, and a simple question to show me what you would like me to know...

Conversations with the River- The Eastern Cleddau

Image
A quiet meditative walk on a cold damp November morning, dropping into the body and connecting in to the River.   This is what came.  "Scouring Scrubbing Clearing Cleaning, The crusted remains At the bottom of the pot. Smooth, swift. Clean. Crisp. Mist suspended. The veil. The unknown Yet, clarity is here,  Here in the now with my feet on these banks. Branches sway. Belly connection. Womb connection. The Hara. The Centre. The Central point.Right here. All flows from within. From this central point. Fast. Swift. Things will happen quick. Follow the movement of energy. Follow the natural flow. Tis the right direction The path to follow. A lightness, uplifting heart energy. Heart connection.   Connecting us all. Through water and hearts We are all connected. Connect the heart with the water. Heart energy flows. A leaping. A sudden jump. An opportunity. Take it. Take the branch that offers its bough of support. It’s waving in my direction. My attention captured, hel...

Voice of the River - The Process

Image
Speaking to the River. To have a conversation with a river, isn't quite as straightforward as saying;  'River, Hi! So, what have you got for me today?' and expecting a voice to speak loudly in our heads. It is a process.  Requiring a different state of being, of different way of seeing, of deeper way of listening.  It requires an openness. A getting out of the way.  So we don't project our own stuff, our own thoughts, our own views on what may be coming through.  And this takes practce. Nature doesn't tend to speak to us through the mind, bu t through the heart, through our bodies, through what we feel, what we sense, and this requires us to be fully present and fully embodied.  So when I begin my conversation, my connection with the river, with any aspect of Nature, I begin with Breath. With feeling my feet firmly connected to the earth beneath. I bring my awareness to my soles and their connection with the ground. I bring my awarness to my toes, my feet a...

Voice of the River - about

Image
'Voice of the River ' began as a creative enquiry and is inspired by the work of Dr  Masaru Emoto and Veda Austin whose incredible work has explored whether water is conscious. Whether it can hold memory and whether it can atcually communicate to us. My research informed me that our ancestors honnoured and worshipped our rivers.  They deemed them as sacred. The River was the physcal embodiment of the Goddess, a Spiritual Being.  As a keen wild swimmer and nature lover,  I was increasingly frustrated by the continued reports of how polluted are rivers currently are, So, I decided to do something about it. To see if, through storytelling, I could help give the River a Voice. Help her communicate what messages she may have for us in these times, and whether her voice could be shared with policy makers regarding the future of our rivers.  My vision is that one day, the River would have a seat and a voice at the table of all decision and policy makers not only in our...
