Voice of the River - The Process
To have a conversation with a river, isn't quite as straightforward as saying;
'River, Hi! So, what have you got for me today?' and expecting a voice to speak loudly in our heads.
It is a process.
Requiring a different state of being, of different way of seeing, of deeper way of listening.
It requires an openness. A getting out of the way. So we don't project our own stuff, our own thoughts, our own views on what may be coming through.
And this takes practce.
Nature doesn't tend to speak to us through the mind, bu
t through the heart, through our bodies, through what we feel, what we sense, and this requires us to be fully present and fully embodied.
So when I begin my conversation, my connection with the river, with any aspect of Nature, I begin with Breath. With feeling my feet firmly connected to the earth beneath. I bring my awareness to my soles and their connection with the ground. I bring my awarness to my toes, my feet and work my way up all the way through my body, enabling me to come fully present and fully embodied. Feeling what is already there before I even begin and to then, let it all go. To breathe it out. To breathe deeply.
Standing on the earth, I send down a connection from my feet to the core of the earth and back up, connecting with my sacral, my belly, up to my heart, my third eye, my crown and up up up, to connect with the central sun of our galaxy. Allowing me to be connected with above and below.
I then bring my awarness to my back space, my front space and either side of me. Fully feeling what is present in all of these spaces.
And then I come back into my heart. Breathing into my belly and out through my heart space. Connecting with the energy of the heart.
I am now ready, fully present, embodied and in a state of being to connect with the River. I hold a clear intention to communciate with the River. I may come with a question or a theme to explore.
Breathing out of my heart space I allow myself to greet the River. To breathe into the energy of the River. To fully meet the River.
As I connect, I may travel energetcially up the river to its source and then back down following it energetcially to the sea. Or I may not. It depends where I am at, and what I choose to follow.
I now enter a liminal space of being, allowing myself to see slighlty out of focus. In this space I am in, I now fully feel and allow whatever to comes through. Noting each sensation. Noting what catches my attention. What my body may be feeling, experiencing. Where and how my body wants to move and what words may pop into my head.
Nature can be very poetic and at times, words can flow, as can songs, music, melodies, stories, movement and dance. All is welcomed in this conversaton.
I love to walk along the river in this meditative space, recording as I do what comes through.
And when I feel it is complete. I bring myself back to centre, back to my heart and end with the words;
"I love you" and "Thank you'.
